Environmental Outcome Assessment Methodology Databases.

Environmental Outcome Assessment Methodology chapter section “2.4.1 Databases containing environmental information” identifies key databases to be considered in the PVP Developer.

Chapters 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 specify the circumstances in which broadscale clearing is to be regarded as improving or maintaining environmental outcomes for water quality, salinity, biodiversity, soils and invasive native scrub respectively.

To apply these circumstances accurately and meaningfully to the enormous range of possible clearing and offset proposals in the diverse environments that exist throughout the State it is necessary to rely on detailed data about the state of the environment in NSW. The information is held in the following databases:

  1. threatened species profiles database;
  2. vegetation benchmarks database;
  3. overcleared landscapes database;
  4. overcleared vegetation types database;
  5. major rivers database;
  6. important wetlands database;
  7. soil subregions database; and
  8. invasive native scrub species database.

These databases are available from the following locations:

  1. Threatened species profiles database

Additional information on underlying datasets

Salinity

The SBI catchment data has been made available from the Toolkit website: http://www.toolkit.net.au

To access data, select the LUOS from the product menu, then Input Data Requirements from the model menu. This will link to a page with the SBI catchment map. Click on the CMA of interest to obtain a list of the SBI catchments in that CMA. Downloads can be done from this page.
