Native Vegetation Assistance Package

The NSW Government has developed a Native Vegetation Assistance Package to help farmers who experience financial hardship as a result of the new laws.

The $37 million package is available for three years from 1 July 2006, and includes:

• Farmer Exit Assistance ($12 million)
• Sustainable Farming Grants ($15 million)
• Offset Pools ($10 million)

The funding will be allocated by the Government on the advice of local CMAs, with farmers having to meet strict eligibility criteria for assessing past and future viability. Details of the eligibility criteria and how to apply for financial assistance are available from local CMAs.
